📒Two As One ✍ Christie McNally
📝Two As One Book Synopsis : Two As One - A Journey to Yoga Through decades of study, training, and deep meditation, McNally and Thorson have mastered the practice of Partner Yoga. Two as One: A Journey to Yoga integrates philosophy and yoga techniques from many time-honored disciplines to create a synergistic experience for two Yoga partners working together. Two As One is a revolutionary concept which gives each partner the power to support and be supported; to open and be opened. This gift from the masters offers an ingenious tool for aspiring yogis and spiritual seekers alike, to move farther and faster on the path than they ever possibly could alone - and perhaps enjoy the practice more than ever before! The poetry of bodies captured in the book was photographed by world-renowned New York City Photographer Connie Hansen of Guzman Photography. It was she and stylist Gabriele Vignorelli who launched the original ad campaign that made Gap a household name. They work again together here, to capture another unique and timeless style. The Two As One partner-yoga practice reveals the essence of ancient secret practices for radical transformation, through an exquisite and simple presentation. As Lama Christie describes, "When you work together in a hands-on, visceral way, you tap into the power of the inner body. It forms a resonance between the two people that is more powerful than anything the individual by themselves can call up. This is a revolutionary concept on how to travel the spiritual path". All proceeds from the book will be donated to support more than 50 people entering into a historic three-year retreat at Diamond Mountain University in southeastern Arizona. DMU teaches Tibetan Buddhism through advanced philosophy, yoga, debate, and many other methods that enable individuals to help others.

📒The Not Two ✍ Lorenzo Chiesa
📝The Not Two Book Synopsis : In The Not-Two, Lorenzo Chiesa examines the treatment of logic and God in Lacan's later work. Chiesa draws for the most part from Lacan's Seminars of the early 1970s, as they revolve around the axiom "There is no sexual relationship." Chiesa provides both a close reading of Lacan's effort to formalize sexual difference as incompleteness and an assessment of its broader implications for philosophical realism and materialism.Chiesa argues that "There is no sexual relationship" is for Lacan empirically and historically circumscribed by psychoanalysis, yet self-evident in our everyday lives. Lacan believed that we have sex because we love, and that love is a desire to be One in face of the absence of the sexual relationship. Love presupposes a real "not-two." The not-two condenses the idea that our love and sex lives are dictated by the impossibility of fusing man's contradictory being with the heteros of woman as a fundamentally uncountable Other. Sexual liaisons are sustained by a transcendental logic, the so-called phallic function that attempts to overcome this impossibility. Chiesa also focuses on Lacan's critical dialogue with modern science and formal logic, as well as his dismantling of sexuality as considered by mainstream biological discourse. Developing a new logic of sexuation based on incompleteness requires the relinquishing of any alleged logos of life and any teleological evolution. For Lacan, the truth of incompleteness as approached psychoanalytically through sexuality would allow us to go further in debunking traditional onto-theology and replace it with a "para-ontology" yet to be developed. Given the truth of incompleteness, Chiesa asks, can we think such a truth in itself without turning incompleteness into another truth about truth, that is, into yet another figure of God as absolute being?

📒One Out Of Two ✍ Daniel Sada
📝One Out of Two Book Synopsis : "A literary titan of his time, one of the most innovative novelists in contemporary Latin American letters." -The Washington Post The most distinctive thing about the Gamal sisters is that they are, essentially, indistinguishable (except for a modest mole). The twin spinsters spend their time trying to mask any perceptible differences they have while working hard at their thriving tailoring business in a small town in rural northern Mexico. When? Thirty years ago? Fifty years ago? Who can say-the world seems not to intrude on Ocampo very much. Gloria and Constitution take an almost perverse delight in confusing people about which one is which. But then a suitor enters the picture, and one of the sisters decides that she doesn't want to live a life without romance and all the good things that come with it. The ensuing competition between the sisters brings their relationship to the breaking point until they come up with an ingenious solution that carries this buoyant farce to its tender and even liberating conclusion. Suffused with the tension between our desire for union and our desire for independence, Daniel Sada's One Out of Two is a giddy and comic fable by one of the giants of contemporary Latin American literature.

📒Two Sides Of One River ✍ António Medeiros
📝Two Sides of One River Book Synopsis : Galicia, the region in the northwest corner of Spain that is contiguous with northern Portugal, is known officially as the Autonomous Community of Galicia. It is recognized as one of the historical nationalities that makes up the Spanish state, as legitimized by the Spanish Constitution of 1978. This study compares the topographic and ethnographic descriptions produced with respect to Galicia and Portugal during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries in order to understand how the integration in different states and the existence of a specific nationalist discourse marked differences in the ways that two bordering regions in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula have been represented. Although Galicia and Portugal each belong to different states, their similarities are frequently alluded to. The author explores the presence and role of the imagination in creating a sense, over the last century and a half, of the national being and becoming of these two related peoples.
