📒Taking My Life Back ✍ Rebekah Gregory
📝Taking My Life Back Book Synopsis : On April 15, 2013, Rebekah Gregory and her five-year-old son waited at the finish line of the Boston Marathon to support a friend who was running. When the blasts of terrorists' homemade bombs packed with nails and screws went off three feet away, Rebekah's legs took the brunt of the blast, protecting her son from certain death. Eighteen surgeries and sixty-five procedures later, her left leg was amputated. Despite the extraordinary trauma she underwent and the nightmares she continues to have, Rebekah sees it as just another part of her personal journey, a journey that has led her through abuse, mistakes, and pain and into the arms of Jesus. This stirring memoir tells the story of her recovery, including her triumphant return to Boston two years later to run part of the race, and explores the peace we experience when we learn to trust God with every part of our lives--the good, the bad, and even the terrifying. Readers will be moved by the joyous way Rebekah is determined to live her life, seeing every obstacle as part of how God forms us into the people we are meant to be. Readers will also find comfort in the message that it's not what they can or can't do that makes the difference, but rather what God, in his mercy, does through them despite it all. Life is hard, but with God all things are possible.

📝Taking My Life Back Book Synopsis : We've all gone through pain in our lives and endured trials that greatly affected us. Sometimes we feel lost and alone, thinking nobody understands the abuse we have gone through. Our hearts cry out for help to those around us. Yet the abuse that we suffered makes us feel vulnerable and not good enough in life. The after-effects can be quite damaging. It's not always easy to see the light at the end of the tunnel. There are times that we are standing on life's edge, wondering if we will ever be free from the pain that we had in our past. But we are survivors who have come a long way in life and we are not alone. Our future doesn't have to reflect our past. Those days of abuse are gone and now we must speak out and stand strong together as survivors, sharing our stories with others. I believe we can be a light to those who are going through abuse, letting them know they are not alone. These poems are here to offer encouragement to survivors and victims. We can take back control of our lives and have a new beginning. When we believe in ourselves, we can achieve anything. Our lives are far from finished for we have come too far to quit.

📒I Want My Life Back ✍ Steve Hamilton
📝I Want My Life Back Book Synopsis : One is too many. A thousand is never enough.' 'Andrea arrived in rehab at the same time as me. We were in admissions together. I can't remember how many times she'd tried to get clean, but it was my eleventh institution and I was dying. For two days I listened to her withdrawal in a room just down the passage from mine. The screaming, the swearing, the crying - and the hideous, desperate ka-klung! of the bars on the side of the bed as she wrestled with the restraints that kept her tied to it. I don't know what damage they thought she could have done really. Andrea had had all the tips of her fingers amputated. She'd got gangrene from shooting up under her nails too many times ...' At the age of fifteen I already had a criminal record, busted by the drug squad for possession of an illegal substance. You'd think I'd have learnt a lesson, wouldn't you, but I'm still learning, even though I'm clean of street drugs now - well, just for today - and have a lot of clean time behind me. The hardest lesson of all for an addict is that the nightmare is never over and the powerful seduction of just one more high never ever goes away. The story in these pages is not a comfortable one. It doesn't have an ending and I'm not even sure if it has a true beginning. Some of the time it may read like a bad dream. It isn't. It's my life you're holding in your hands. Don't let it be yours.
