Origin and Purpose of the Eagle Book Series The Eagle Book series grew out of a single book, "Through the Eyes of the Eagle," that had been written by Nambe Pueblo s Georgia Perez (Native American Diabetes Project, University of New Mexico) and woven through the curriculum of the Strong in Body and Spirit program in the late 1990s. Ms. Perez found that when children heard the story of the eagle, they listened intently. Afterward, they were eager to take the diabetes-prevention information back to their parents and grandparents to share what they had learned. The role of the eagle as teacher and the story s success led to the creation of a series of children s books whose purpose is to convey to children healthy ways of living. All of the stories reflect long-held values of American Indian / Alaska Native people respect, gratitude, and generosity while teaching the universal wisdom of healthy eating and physical activity. Throughout the series, a young Native boy and his friends learn about healthy habits from Mr. Eagle, Miss Rabbit, and Coyote. Vividly brought to life by the colorful illustrations of American Indian artists Patrick Rolo (Bad River Band, Ojibwe) and Lisa A. Fifield (Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin), these stories by Georgia Perez have become the award-winning Eagle Book series "Through the Eyes of the Eagle," "Knees Lifted High," "Plate Full of Color, " and"Tricky Treats." Additional diabetes prevention books based on these characters for middle school children are also becoming available, starting with Coyote and the Turtle's Dream. The purpose of the Eagle Books is to help children understand several important messages about diabetes and being healthy: Many Americans, including Native peoples, no longer eat traditional diets or practice vigorous physical activity.Type 2 diabetes can be a consequence of this lifestyle change.Returning to healthy diet and physical activity can help prevent diabetes.Friends and families can help each other to prevent diabetes by eating healthy foods and staying active. 📒Intaglio Simultaneous Color Printmaking ✍ N. Krishna Reddy
📝Intaglio Simultaneous Color Printmaking Book Synopsis : Here is a straightforward, comprehensive reference on the art of color printmaking created by Krishna Reddy, one of the world’s greatest and most innovative printmakers. This book doesn’t expect the reader to know a lot, but at the same time, it doesn’t omit any technical detail. There are complete formulas, lists of materials and equipment, and step-by-step instructions documented by photos. An outstanding innovator and experimenter, Krishna Reddy sees the plate as a sculpted surface, and intaglio printing as a three-dimensional process. Reddy creates a philosophy for working the image. By varying ink viscosity and roller density, he has achieved colors of extraordinary complexity on the plate. Reddy’s discovery of the principle of color viscosity has greatly simplified technical processes while at the same time increasing the expressiveness and intensity of the image. This book demonstrates the intimate connection of the artist with his materials. Krishna Reddy’s artistic genius brought him universal acclaim: fifty one-man exhibitions have been mounted not only in the U.S. and Europe, but also in Montreal, Bombay, Melbourne, New Delhi, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, and Beijing. He serves on numerous award juries, ranging from the Society of American Graphic Artists to the Lalit Kala Akademi of India. But it is not his artistic prowess alone that uniquely qualified Krishna Reddy to write a book on printmaking. He is also a consummate teacher: “He can initiate people to an entirely different field of expression,” observes a collaborator at Paris’ famed Atelier 17, which Reddy directed for more than 10 years. Today he directs the Graphics Program at New York University.

📒Melanoma ✍ Ernest C. Borden
📝Melanoma Book Synopsis : Strategies of treatment involving therapeutic proteins, irnrnune immune cells, or cel lular protein targets are those of greatest potential for further reducing mortality from melanoma. Therapeutic proteins or cells may inhibit melanoma cell growth either by augmentation of immune cell function or by inhibition of angiogenesis. Cytokines and melanoma antigens may be used either in vivo as a vaccine to stimulate irnrnune immune cell cell function or ex vivo to stimulate or proliferate cells for infusion. Alternatively, alteration in melanoma cell growth can occur through inhibition of protein signal transduction pathways within melanoma cells or in the endothelial cells constituting the necessary angiogenic support for tumor growth. The great promise of these therapies and their cellular targets constitutes the basis for Melanoma: Biologically Targeted Therapeutics. THE CLINlCAL PROBLEM More than four million people will be diagnosed with melanoma in the first decade of the 21st century. Half of those who will die will be individuals who would otherwise have had a life expectancy of another 25 years or more. These individuals will die of systemic systernic metastases, which are present at the time of primary surgery. Despite use of sunscreens, incidence continues to increase in developed countries worldwide. To reduce mortality, there must continue to be a focus on prevention and earlier detection through public education. Early interventions are always preferable to treatment of disseminated metastatic disease.
