📒In The Lions Mouth And Other Stories ✍ DAVID MOORE
📝IN THE LIONS MOUTH AND OTHER STORIES Book Synopsis : B>In this book of short stories I have compiled some of my writing and ideas on a life past and present. Ever wonder what would happen if it started snowing and never stopped...never ever stopped? How would we exist? Where would we live? Or what about the young soldiers in the Great War who were shot at dawn after a court martial. Have you ever considered the feelings of those who pulled the trigger? Perhaps you are in a sailing boat wondering how a Vikinglong ship has come to be just off the starboard bow. Is it daydream? Well, is it? Or have you noticed police officers on duty, perhaps on television? Ever wondered what they fear? What they carry forever locked inside? Their ghosts? In life there is presumption that we know and understand how others think, feel and fear. Always trying to make the best of circumstances we find ourselves in. I call this the human condition. No matter what that condition, I have found the human spirit always shines through. You just need to know where to look .Life is for living. Stories are for reading. Enjoy.

📒The Revelations Of St Birgitta Of Sweden ✍ Bridget Morris
📝The Revelations of St Birgitta of Sweden Book Synopsis : St. Brigitta of Sweden (1303-73, canonized 1391) was one of the most charismatic and influential visionaries of the later Middle Ages. Altogether, she received some seven hundred revelations, dealing with subjects ranging from meditations on the human condition, domestic affairs in Sweden, and ecclesiastical matters in Rome, to revelations in praise of the Incarnation and devotion to the Virgin. Her Revelations, collected and ordered by her confessors, circulated widely throughout Europe and long after her death. Many eminent individuals, including Cardinal Juan Torquemada, Jean Gerson, and Martin Luther, read and commented on her writings, which influenced the spiritual lives of countless individuals. Birgitta was also the founder of a new monastic order which still exists today. She is the patron saint of Sweden and in 2000 was declared (with Catherine of Siena and Edith Stein) co-patroness of Europe. Birgitta's Revelations present her as a commanding and dauntless visionary who develops a contemplative mysticism that is always interwoven with social engagement and a commitment to the salvation of the world. The varied styles of her revelations are dominated by frequent juxtapositions of memorable images and allegories that illustrate her fierce and fertile imagination, her sharp powers of observation and understanding, and her passionate and receptive storytelling powers. This is the second of four volumes and it contains Book IV and Book V of the Revelations. Book IV includes some of Birgitta's most influential visions, with topics ranging from the Avignon papacy and purgatory, to the Hundred Years' War. Book V, the Liber Quaestionum (Book of Questions), takes the form of a learned dialogue between Christ and a monk standing on a ladder fixed between heaven and earth. The argument centers on the way in which God's providence is constantly misunderstood and rejected by self-centered human beings. The translation is based on the recently completed critical edition of the Latin text and promises to be the standard English translation of the Revelations for years to come.

📒The First And Second Letters To Timothy ✍ Jerome D. Quinn
📝The First and Second Letters to Timothy Book Synopsis : The inaugural volume of the ECC series provides a fresh, readable translation of 1 and 2 Timothy together with notes and commentary on this highly relevant section of Scripture. The Notes section of the commentary offers detailed philological analysis of the majority of the words used in these two Pastoral Epistles. The Comment section guides readers through the complex theological, historical, and practical issues facing the heirs of Paul in the Christian church. The issues treated in 1 and 2 Timothy have a remarkably modern ring to them. Addressing such "contemporary" topics as the qualifications for church leadership, the roles of women, the use of wealth, heterodoxy, worship, and ethics, these Pauline letters remain highly relevant to church life today. This new volume not only offers the best of current biblical scholarship on Paul's letters to Timothy but also demonstrates the high standard of excellence marking the ECC series.

📝2 Timothy and Titus Book Synopsis : A thorough and insightful commentary on Paul's letter to his coworker Timothy, which the apostle wrote before and during Nero's persecution. How Paul's writing related to the ancient communities is highlighted in the light of original data gleaned from her explorations on location in Crete, Ephesus, and Rome. In addition, Paul's rhetorical and ministry strategies, especially as they relate to women and their role in the church, are explored. Throughout, Spencer presents an in-depth exegesis in a readable format enhanced by forty years of ministry.
